Unsigned Indie Quartet The Soldier Thread Advances to Spin/Music Nation's Hot Pursuit Quarterfinals, Receives Accolade from Perry Farrell

Austin, TX (PRWEB) October 27, 2007 -- The Soldier Thread, an orchestral, harmony-driven indie act from Austin, TX, has become the latest band to advance to the final round of the Spin Magazine and Music Nation hosted Hot Pursuit contest. The group has received feature treatment on Spin's website as well as glowing accolades from Perry Farrell.

"Experimental sounds underlining serious song writing. Romantic harmonies between the male and female singers. Passionate playing without overly bombastic guitar work. Patient in the arrangement, yet still displaying strong emotions." said Farrell in a post on The Soldier Thread's profile on Music Nation.

Originally a solo project started by guitarist/pianist/songwriter Justin McHugh, guitarist/bassist Todd Abels was quickly added to create a refreshing duo. Soon after, vocalist and violist Patricia Lynn, along with drummer Drew Van Diver, were added to the mix to complete what has now become The Soldier Thread.

The group has already begun to turn heads in their hometown, boasting regular spots at the world-famous Antone's nightclub, which helped to launch the careers of well-known Texas locals Stevie Ray Vaughan and Bob Schneider. Local press is starting to take notice of the band's unique, harmonic vocals and haunting melodies as well.

"Lush instrumentation and powerful builds provide an added buoyancy to the already inspired male/female vocals, in both a live setting and in the recorded version, that belies the band's tender infancy." said Soundcheck Magazine in their online blog.

With their first E.P./Demo "Fevers and Fireworks," The Soldier Thread offers its fans an exciting taste of what's to come. This amazing band promises much, much more in the weeks, months, and years ahead.

Changing The Way We Listen To Music With The MP3 Music Player
Not so very long ago most of us who are old enough to remember probably had a collection of vinyl albums that reflected our wide taste in music. Such technology was all we knew and, with the help of a record player, we could enjoy our songs without having to wait for them to come on the radio. Today, technology is so different that it barely resembles its former self. Music lovers of today carry around portable devices that store all of their favorite songs in a piece of equipment that is barely larger than our thumbs. The MP3 music player technology initially appeared in the mid-1980s but we would not see the player in its present state until the late 1990s ? 1999 to be exact. But when it made its appearance it would change the world of mu...
