BeGreen Carbon Offsets Asks Concert-Goers to "Cool It" at the 2008 Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza Music Festivals

Austin, Texas (PRWEB) April 15, 2008 -- On the heels of the announcements of the official lineups for Austin City Limits Festival and Lollapalooza, BeGreen Carbon Offsets, the carbon offset (http://www.begreennow.com) division of Green Mountain Energy Company, announced Tuesday that it has partnered with the organizers of the two musical events to offer concert-goers a "green" ticket option to give individuals a way to minimize their environmental impact from travelling to the festivals.

For an additional $5, eco-friendly music fans can "go green" by adding the BeGreen Fan Tag option when purchasing concert tickets through the festival Web sites at www.aclfestival.com and www.lollapalooza.com.

Each Fan Tag is equal to offsetting 500 kWh of energy usage and will be used to purchase renewable energy credits (http://www.begreennow.com) from sources, such as solar, wind and biomass. Purchasers receive a unique, double-sided BeGreen Fan Tag sticker that can be displayed at the event to show off their environmental consciousness.

"Music has always been a great outlet for drawing attention to social issues and spurring change. We are very excited to partner with the organizers of these two major musical festivals to raise environmental awareness and do our part for Mother Earth," said Gillan Taddune, chief environmental officer of Green Mountain Energy Company. "By giving concert-goers, through the Fan Tag, easy ways to decrease their impact on the environment, these festivals are showing a true commitment to fighting global warming."

Through a partnership with the events' organizers, C3 Presents, BeGreen also worked with the Austin City Limits Festival and Lollapalooza to make the two events 100 percent carbon neutral in 2008. This purchase of carbon offsets (http://www.begreennow.com) made from clean technologies like renewable energy credits balances out all of the show's electricity usage, generators, staff travel and office-based emissions.

To "go green" with a Fan Tag, concert-goers can follow these simple steps:

1. Log on to www.aclfestival.com or www.lollapalooza.com to purchase tickets

2. During the check-out process, look for the "Offset Your Carbon Impact Now" link at the bottom of the page

3. Click "Add To Cart" and the Fan Tag will automatically be added to the purchase

At both events, attendees can pick-up their Fan Tag during the concert at the BeGreen booth. BeGreen Fan Tags can also be purchased at the booth.
