Music Conservatory of Westchester's Seventh Annual Golf & Tennis Classic Tees Off May 19

White Plains, NY (PRWEB) May 2, 2008 -- The Music Conservatory of Westchester will hold its seventh annual Golf & Tennis Classic and Lifetime Achievement Award Dinner on Monday, May 19, 2008 at Brae Burn Country Club in Purchase, NY. Last year, sixty-eight golfers teed off and 10 tennis players took the court, raising $85,000 for Conservatory scholarships and tuition assistance. Following the Classic, Henry G. Miller, Esq., attorney, actor, author, and playwright, will be presented with the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award for his extraordinary accomplishments in the field of law and for his lifelong pursuit and successes in writing, acting, and producing in the theatre arts.

Mr. Miller, a resident of Westchester County, is a senior member and named partner of Clark, Gagliardi & Miller, P.C., in White Plains. From his beginnings as a young trial lawyer in his native Brooklyn three decades ago, Mr. Miller has become one of the leading trial attorneys in the U.S. today. He has held appointments from New York Governors Mario Cuomo and George Pataki, and served at the head of many legal bar associations, including as Past President of the New York State and Westchester County Bar Associations. He has also held appointments at Pace University and St. John's Law School.

In no small measure, Mr. Miller's many successes in front of juries and judges can be traced to his unique personality - one that fuses his oratorical skills and improvisational instincts derived from a lifelong passion and commitment to the theater arts. To this day, he continues to develop his craft as an actor, as a playwright, a producer, and, most recently, as a novelist. Mr. Miller is the author of three books, Settlements (non-fiction), On Trial: Lessons form a Lifetime in the Courtroom (non-fiction), and More, his first novel. He has appeared on the stages of many Off-Broadway theatres and regional playhouses as an actor, and playwright, among them being the one-man production of Clarence Darrow: All Too Human, which he wrote and produced.

"The Conservatory is proud to honor Henry G. Miller for his extraordinary legal career and passionate pursuits of the theatre arts," said Dr. Aaron Flagg, Executive Director, Music Conservatory of Westchester. "He serves as a sterling example to everyone - young and all - of the rewards and accomplishments that can be achieved through a lifelong commitment to the arts."

The Golf & Tennis Classic commences at 10:30 a.m. with registration and brunch, followed by a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start for the golfers and a round-robin tennis tournament at 1 p.m. The Lifetime Achievement Dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception; dinner and awards are at 6 p.m. Entertainment by Conservatory students and a live auction and raffle round out the evening.

"We are very grateful to our community for their continued support," Flagg said. "Participating in or sponsoring the Golf & Tennis Classic is a great way to have fun while contributing to a worthy cause. Proceeds from this event will help area youth pursue their passion in the performing arts, regardless of financial means."

Dinner tickets are $150 per person; $250 per couple. The Conservatory is accepting sponsorships, journal advertisements, and participants for the golf tournament and tennis classic. There will be an online auction at mcw.cmarket.com from April 11 to May 14, 2008. Select items will be featured in a live auction during the awards dinner. Christmas Sheet Music - A Family Tradition
Back in the days when television didn?t reign supreme, music played a much larger part in the entertainment of family and friends.
