Cancer Research Meets 'Rock Music' When Eric Lee Beddingfield Sings 'Rock the Cure,' the Passionate New Anthem Dedicated to Findin
Palm City, FL (PRWeb) December 4, 2006 -- Cancer research meets rock music as record label CEO, O. Franklin Wolfe and southern rock singer Eric Lee Beddingfield launch the worldwide Internet release today of "Rock the Cure," a first-ever fight song for cancer projected to raise $500,000 for research -- one 99-cent download at a time.
"One million downloads of 'Rock the Cure" is where we'll be a year from now on December 1, 2007," says Wolfe, who wrote the song with Beddingfield. Wolfe and Beddingfield will donate 49-cents of every 99-cent download to the American Cancer Society, all of it specified for research.
"This demonstrates the exceptional power of music to raise money for cancer in an unprecedented way," says Wolfe. "With 'Rock the Cure,' we've got a rousing, uplifting anthem that any music lover will understand." (Download "Rock the Cure" at www.rockthecure.net).
Wolfe says "Rock the Cure" was born last summer when he and Beddingfield worked together on another cancer fundraiser, Kill the Mullet for Cancer. The event was named for a witty Beddingfield recording that urges long-haired listeners to donate their hair to recovering cancer patients through organizations such as Locks of Love. (Listen to "Kill the Mullet" by visiting www.killthemullet.com)
"That's when Eric and I realized no musical recognition existed for cancer survivors. 'Kill the Mullet' was a great start, but we knew we needed a real fight song, a powerful anthem of hope that sends a call to action. 'Rock the Cure' was born that day."
Wolfe says he is extending the offer beyond "Rock the Cure."
"Many other songs will be available at www.rockthecure.net. We'll donate 50 percent of every 99-cent download made from www.rockthecure.net. I tell people all the time, 'even if you don't download anything, you'll get a kick out of listening to Eric sing.'"
The record label entrepreneur, who is also a Florida-based real estate developer, promises another bonus to website visitors. "Train, Train," a song Beddingfield recorded with country/pop superstar Dolly Parton, is also available for 99-cent download, with 49-cents going to cancer research. Popular country pop singer Lynard Skynard's lead guitarist, Ricky Medlock, also performs on the soundtrack with Parton and Beddingfield.
"'Rock the Cure' works because it truly defines a message of hope for cancer survivors," says Wolfe. "It also provides a new method for funding a cure."
